About Smana
A life of many passions, held together by one purpose.
I am Dr. Smana Seradieu—a Haitian American social worker, educator, founder, writer, and builder of things that help people live with greater intention.
My work includes clinical and crisis support, geriatric care, education, nonprofit leadership, and advance-care planning. I hold a Doctor of Social Work, a Master of Social Work, a Master of Arts in TESOL, and a bachelor's degree in Psychology and French. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in New Jersey and New York.
As the founder of Change for Haitian Youth and Demen, I have built work around education, dignity, preparation, and access. For six years, I have also served as a crisis counselor, providing compassionate, in-the-moment support during difficult experiences.
I was born in Haiti and immigrated to the United States at age 12. That experience continues to shape how I understand belonging, language, culture, possibility, and the emotional weight carried by immigrant communities.
