About Demen
Planning for Tomorrow, Together
“Demen” means “tomorrow” in Haitian Creole. The name reflects the platform's central belief: thoughtful conversations today can bring greater clarity, dignity, and peace of mind tomorrow.
Demen helps make advance care planning feel more approachable. Through guided tools, educational resources, document organization, and opportunities for family involvement, the platform supports people as they reflect on what matters to them and communicate their preferences with those they trust.
Demen is designed for individuals planning for themselves, families beginning important conversations, caregivers supporting loved ones, and professionals seeking a more approachable way to introduce advance care planning.

Why I Created Demen
Dr. Smana Seradieu, DSW, LMSW
Founder of Demen
Through my work in social services, geriatric care, crisis support, and family-centered communication, I have seen how often important care conversations are postponed until families are facing an emergency.
I created Demen to offer individuals and families a calmer, clearer, and more human way to begin planning before a crisis occurs. My goal is to make these conversations easier to approach while honoring each person's values, culture, relationships, and right to make informed choices about their future.
As a Haitian American social worker, I am especially mindful of the cultural, emotional, and practical barriers that can make conversations about aging, illness, caregiving, and end-of-life wishes difficult. Demen was created to help make space for those conversations with dignity and compassion.
