Ready, Without a Deadline

At the finish line of one season

I spent most of my twenties proving—to myself more than anyone else—that I could do life on my own. I did not need a relationship. I did not need someone beside me to build, accomplish, travel, grow, or become the woman I wanted to be. And honestly, I still do not.

But somewhere around the finish line of 30, something softened in me.

For the first time, I do not just feel capable of having a partner. I feel ready for one. Ready for a deeper connection. Ready to care for someone and allow someone to care for me. Ready to create something that does not take away from my independence, but gives me a safe place to put some of it down.

That does not mean I am completely healed or that I have nothing left to improve. There are still parts of myself I am learning, unlearning, and working through. But mentally and emotionally, I feel open in a way I have not before.

I am not on a deadline. I am not saying it must happen now simply because I have turned 30. I am just acknowledging that if love arrived—real, intentional, God-centered love—I would not run from it or convince myself I did not need it.

I feel ready.

Now, whether the Lord is ready to give it to me is another question. But I trust that He will know when I am ready in all the ways I cannot measure for myself. I trust that when it is time, it will happen.

Until then, I am not standing still at the finish line. I am living. I am becoming. I am making room—not from emptiness, but from abundance—for a love that can meet me here.

I am making room—not from emptiness, but from abundance—for a love that can meet me here.

I am not racing toward love. I have simply arrived at a place where I am ready to receive it—and to give it.
